How it works
Trailer
Describe what you want, in your own words. The films have already been read, each on the same set of readings, each reading with a sentence that says why. Films that rhyme with your description come back. Each comes with the reason it rhymes.
Feature
Begin with a feeling, a texture, or a state you want to be left in: restrained and aching, kinetic and relentless, strange and unresolved. A title or a name on its own does not read as a feeling. Your words are read into the same readings the films carry. Then films that rhyme with your description come back, and each says how close it is in a phrase: very close, close, rhymes. Under each film is the reason: the readings your words leaned on, and the film's own sentence for the first. A reading your words did not touch is shown as not asked. It is not counted as low, and it is not counted as middling. It is left out of the comparison, and named as left out.
Making of
Two things happen at different times. The films are read once, ahead of time, and the readings are kept. Your description is read when you send it, and that is the only wait, and it takes a moment; the page says so while you wait. A film page needs no reading at all, because everything on it is stored. Only the readings your description touches take part. Closeness is judged on the shape across those readings, not on how high a film sits overall. Films come back in a row with the closest first. The order says how close, and nothing else. This cannot read a title, judge whether you will like a film, or work in a language other than English.
